On a winter afternoon in Wichita, Kansas, the life of 43-year-old Black / African American male Mareo Dupree was tragically cut short. The day was January 5, 2023, when police were called to the 2300 block of North Piatt shortly after noon, following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Dupree with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention, but despite the efforts of emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries.
