On a summer morning in 2020, the life of Dennis Keith Barnett Jr., a 34-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Kansas. In the early hours of July 5th, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 3000 block of W. 40th Terrace following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Barnett deceased, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. His death was one of two separate fatal shootings that occurred in the city within a two-hour span that morning ...
