On September 21, 2024, around 7:00 AM, 26-year-old Jermea Lyle was fatally shot while riding in the backseat of her boyfriend's car with their 4-year-old daughter. The incident occurred as the vehicle was traveling on the off-ramp from southbound Interstate 75 to westbound US 35 in Dayton, Ohio. Lyle's boyfriend, who was driving, heard a single gunshot and realized Lyle had been struck. He immediately drove her to Miami Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
