The sudden eruption of gunfire sent onlookers into a panic, with people crying and running for safety. In the chaos, Jeffrey Whitmore was left lying face down on the sidewalk. The suspects, described only as three Black males, fled the scene before police arrived. Despite the presence of numerous witnesses, no immediate arrests were made in connection with the shooting.
