In the late spring of 2017, the life of a 56-year-old Black / African American man, Walter Gene Morris, Jr., was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Kansas. On the evening of May 18th, Morris was fatally shot in the 2800 block of Sewell Avenue. The incident marked another life lost to gun violence in the city.

Following the shooting, an investigation was launched into Morris's death. However, despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case grew cold. No suspects were publicly identified ...
