A mother is preparing to mark three years since her son was shot and killed in south Phoenix.

“All I can think about is how close I was to Landan,” his mother, Rosalind Akins, said.

Norris "Landan" Stewart was shot while driving his car near 24th Street and Broadway Road. His two children, ages two and five months at the time, were in the back seat and witnessed the murder. The older sister remembers the shooting.
