In Wichita, Kansas, a tragic incident cut short the life of 14-year-old Forever Latham on the afternoon of Saturday, February 5, 2022. The Black/African American teenage male was at a home in the 1200 block of East Alta when the unfortunate event unfolded.
Around 4:15 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to the residence following a shooting report. Upon arrival, they discovered that Forever had sustained a gunshot wound to his body.
He was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Wichita Police Department, the investigation into the shooting determined that it was a tragic accident. Investigators concluded that Latham was inside a bedroom handling a firearm when it unintentionally discharged, striking him. There were other family members, both teenagers and adults, present in the home at the time of the incident, none of whom were injured. The authorities did not announce any arrests or seek any suspects in connection with the fatal shooting, as the evidence pointed to a self-inflicted, accidental death. The passing of young Forever Latham was noted as the second accidental killing in Wichita in 2022.
