In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., the life of 32-year-old Elvin Jesse Johnson Jr. was tragically cut short. On February 4, 2014, at approximately 11:52 p.m., the African-American man was shot in the chest while in the hallway of an apartment building located in the 4200 block of Foote Street, Northeast, not far from the Minnesota Avenue Metro station.
Following the shooting, a relative quickly transported Johnson to a hospital in Prince George's County.
Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in the early hours of Wednesday, February 5, 2014. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call for the shooting but found that the victim was no longer at the scene upon their arrival.
Detectives from the Homicide Branch were assigned to investigate the killing of the Northeast D.C. resident. The authorities did not immediately release information about the shooting to the public. In the days that followed, the police announced they had no known motive for the shooting and had not identified any suspects. The investigation into the death of Elvin Jesse Johnson Jr. remains ongoing, and authorities have asked for the public's assistance in gathering any information that might lead to an arrest and conviction in the case.
