In the early hours of March 1, 2014, a discovery was made in the 300 block of Ridge Road, Southeast, in Washington, D.C. that marked a tragic end to a life. Andre McIntyre, a 46-year-old male from Northwest D.C., was found unconscious just after midnight, suffering from blunt force trauma to his head. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The cause of his death was later determined to be blunt force trauma to the head and neck, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
The investigation into McIntyre's death led police to a suspect later that same month. On March 28, 2014, police arrested 26-year-old Antonio Williams in connection with the case. Williams, whose address was unknown at the time of his arrest, was subsequently charged with second-degree murder. This arrest brought a swift development to a case that had added to a concerning spike in homicides in the city at that time.
The legal process that followed saw Antonio Williams facing the consequences of his actions on that fatal night. Williams ultimately pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter. In court, before his sentencing, Williams expressed remorse to Andre McIntyre's family, acknowledging the pain he had caused. He was subsequently sentenced to four years and two months in prison for his role in McIntyre's death. The case was officially closed with this conviction, bringing a form of resolution to the tragic and untimely death of Andre McIntyre.
