In the autumn of 2015, a morning of violence in Southwest Washington, D.C. ultimately claimed the life of 19-year-old Daniel Brown. On Friday, October 23, at approximately 9:01 a.m., gunshots shattered the peace in the 1400 block of First Street, SW. When police arrived, they found Brown suffering from a gunshot wound. The incident occurred within the Greenleaf public housing complex, a neighborhood situated just a couple of blocks from the First District police station.
