In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Washington, D.C., the sound of gunshots pierced the quiet of the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. On August 7, 2022, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call in the 300 block of 50th Street NE. Upon their arrival at approximately 12:17 a.m., they discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 31-year-old Adrian Mack, a male resident of Greenbelt, Maryland.
Emergency medical services arrived on the scene and quickly transported him to a local hospital in an attempt to save his life. Despite all efforts, Adrian Mack succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
For several months, homicide detectives investigated the fatal shooting. Their work led them to identify a suspect in the case. On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 24-year-old Dionte Anderson of Southeast, D.C.
Following his arrest, Anderson was transported to the Homicide Branch of the Metropolitan Police Department for questioning. He was subsequently charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed in connection with the death of Adrian Mack. The police have not publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting.
