In the spring of 2017, a shooting in Southeast Washington, D.C. claimed the life of 26-year-old Michael Derricote, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. On the evening of Friday, April 14, at approximately 8:05 p.m., gunfire erupted in the 3500 block of Stanton Road, SE. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two men on the ground in front of a residence, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A nearby vehicle was also damaged by the gunfire.
