On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 14-year-old Irving Laboard, a resident of Northeast D.C.

At approximately 7:19 a.m., officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person down on Fort Dupont Drive, Southeast. Upon arrival, they found a juvenile male, later identified as Irving Laboard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
