On April 22, 2019, Deandre Hawkins, a 24-year-old man from Washington, DC, was fatally shot in the 5300 block of E Street, Southeast. At approximately 10:49 am, officers from the Sixth District responded to a report of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, they found Hawkins suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Hawkins was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
