Nasrat Ahmad Yar, a 31-year-old man from Afghanistan, had spent years of his life aiding U.S. Army Special Forces as an interpreter in his home country. Fleeing the Taliban's resurgence, he sought safety and a new beginning in the United States, arriving in 2021 with his wife and four children. The family settled in Alexandria, Virginia, where Yar worked tirelessly to provide for them, taking on jobs as a tow-truck driver and a Lyft driver to make ends meet in their new life.
