In the early hours of a summer Sunday in Washington, D.C., the life of 23-year-old David Santiago Amaya-Medano was tragically cut short. On July 30, 2017, at approximately 2:00 a.m., gunshots shattered the night in the 4800 block of Kansas Avenue, Northwest. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim tableau. Two men had been shot.
