On a late Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C., the life of a young Black/African American man, Michael Jones, was tragically cut short. It was June 24, 2018, in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast, when the sound of gunfire shattered the weekend peace. At approximately 4:20 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting and discovered 25-year-old Michael Jones suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
