On November 3, 2018, at approximately 6:07 a.m., 68-year-old Nazir Ahmad was fatally shot during a robbery at the Valero gas station located in the 900 block of Brentwood Road, NE, Washington, D.C. Ahmad, a resident of Laurel, Maryland, was employed as a clerk at the gas station.

According to investigators, Ahmad attempted to intervene during the robbery when he was shot by the assailant, who fled the scene with a few hundred dollars before police arrived.
