On a cold winter afternoon in Washington, D.C., the life of 53-year-old Curtis Wills-Bey was tragically cut short. On Saturday, December 29, 2018, at approximately 2:21 p.m., the sounds of gunfire pierced the air in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, Southeast. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Wills-Bey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was a male resident of Southeast Washington.
Emergency medical personnel quickly transported Wills-Bey to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The incident was officially ruled a homicide, marking the 160th in the District of Columbia for that year.
In the days that followed, the Metropolitan Police Department put out a call to the public for assistance in gathering information about the fatal shooting. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered to anyone who could provide information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Wills-Bey's death.
