On January 6, 2019, Donald Rafus Benson, a 21-year-old resident of Washington, DC, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the Unit Block of O Street, Northwest, near the Noma-Galludet University, New York Avenue metro station. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the sound of gunshots around 3:30 a.m. and discovered Benson at the scene. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
