On the evening of April 15, 2019, gunshots echoed through the 2400 block of Pomeroy Road in Southeast Washington, D.C., forever altering the course of one man's life. Responding to the sound of gunfire at approximately 8:43 p.m., officers from the Seventh District arrived to a grim scene. There, they discovered an unconscious adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The man was identified as 31-year-old Antwan Marquis Hucks of Oxon Hill, Maryland.
Emergency medical services were called to the location, but it was too late. Antwan Hucks showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the fatal shooting.
To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting death of Antwan Marquis Hucks. The investigation remains ongoing, and the police have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for the family and friends of Antwan Hucks.
