On the evening of Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the sounds of gunshots shattered the night in the 3300 block of D Street, Southeast in Washington, D.C. When officers from the Sixth District arrived at the scene at approximately 9:52 p.m., they discovered a chaotic and tragic situation. Two men had been shot.
One of the victims, a 23-year-old male named Dajuan Donald Hart, was found unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of emergency medical services who arrived shortly after, he showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, who also sustained a gunshot wound, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Hart was a resident of Southeast, D.C.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the fatal shooting. In an effort to bring those responsible to justice, the department is offering a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in this homicide. The investigation remains ongoing, and as of now, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in the death of Dajuan Donald Hart. Authorities continue to appeal to the public for assistance, encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
