In the summer of 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the late evening quiet of a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Anthony Hooks, a 26-year-old male, was discovered by police on the night of Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunshots around 10:20 p.m. and found Hooks in the 1300 block of Savannah Street SE, located in the Congress Heights area.
