On a winter afternoon in Washington, D.C., a confrontation at a gas station escalated into a fatal encounter for 21-year-old Tia Carey. On January 6, 2020, Carey, a mother of two, was at a Valero gas station on Minnesota Avenue NE when she became involved in a physical altercation with another woman, 21-year-old Tierra Posey. The dispute reportedly arose after Carey discovered Posey with her boyfriend at the gas station.
