In the late evening of July 8, 2020, the life of 30-year-old Eugene Anthony Hickson was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. A male with no fixed address, Hickson was in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast, when gunfire erupted at approximately 9:56 p.m. Officers from the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the sounds of gunshots in the area.
Upon their arrival at the scene, police discovered Hickson unconscious and suffering from
gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were dispatched and transported him to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Eugene Anthony Hickson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the case as a homicide. Authorities have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Hickson's death. To date, there has been no public announcement regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
