On January 21, 2006, Marc Jonathan Ficarra, a 34-year-old Air Force sergeant, was assaulted in the early hours of the morning in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. in the 2300 block of 18th Street, NW. Ficarra was with a group of friends when three men approached them, and during the encounter, one of the men began harassing a woman in the group.
