In the late hours of an April evening, the sound of gunfire shattered the night in the 400 block of 37th Place, Southeast Washington, D.C. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the residential building around 10:26 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, they discovered a grim scene. Inside, two men were suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was 21-year-old Malik Morris. Despite the immediate response from D.C.
Fire and Emergency Medical Services and their life-saving efforts at a local hospital, the young man succumbed to his injuries. The second man was also transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the shooting of Malik Morris, a resident of Southeast, D.C. As of now, the case remains open, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the murder. The department is urging anyone with information to come forward and is offering a substantial reward for any tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this fatal shooting.
