In the late afternoon of Sunday, August 6, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 100 block of Wilmington Place, Southeast, in Washington, D.C. When police arrived at the scene around 3:46 p.m., they discovered two men who had been shot. One of the victims, a 32-year-old male named Kevin James of Southeast, D.C., showed no signs of life.
