In the late afternoon of Sunday, August 6, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 100 block of Wilmington Place, Southeast, in Washington, D.C. When police arrived at the scene around 3:46 p.m., they discovered two men who had been shot. One of the victims, a 32-year-old male named Kevin James of Southeast, D.C., showed no signs of life.
Emergency medical personnel who responded to the scene confirmed that James had succumbed to his injuries.
The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the double shooting.
As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive for the shooting. Details about any potential suspects have not been made public, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the homicide.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Kevin James.
