In the early morning hours in Lutcher, Louisiana, 75-year-old Isaac Joseph Riley, known by the nickname 'Drift', disappeared from the Riverlands Health Care Center. He had been a resident at the nursing facility for approximately nine months. In an initial attempt to leave between 3:00 and 4:30 a.m., staff members found him fully dressed and escorted him back to his room. However, a subsequent check between 4:45 and 5:00 a.m. revealed that he was gone. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a gray sweater, a red plaid shirt, and blue pants, along with gray or black Sergio Valente shoes. Isaac was known to have a nervous twitch in his left eye. He required medication for high blood pressure, which he did not have with him, and also had mild diabetes that was managed through his diet. Prior to moving into the nursing home, he was a familiar sight in the community, often seen taking walks or riding his bicycle. His sudden absence was out of character, and despite his known habits, there were no reported sightings of him in the local area in the days that followed his disappearance. The St. James Parish Sheriff's Office was notified and conducted an extensive search of the area surrounding the nursing home, but their efforts yielded no clues as to his whereabouts. The complete lack of sightings led authorities to believe that he may have left the immediate vicinity. Decades have passed since Isaac Riley was last seen, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain a mystery. His case is unsolved, leaving a lingering sense of uncertainty for those who knew him and the community he was a part of. The investigation into his whereabouts is still open.
