In the early summer of 2019, concern began to grow for the well-being of 42-year-old Ryan Carrington Martin. A resident of Walker in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, he was last seen on June 4, 2019. On the day he vanished, he was seen north of the Albany area on Long Leaf Drive. At the time, he was wearing a red shirt, black shorts, white tennis shoes, and a noticeable black cast on his left arm. Ryan was a man with distinct features, including blue eyes, black hair often kept in a buzz cut, and several tattoos. These included six stars on his neck, barbed wire around his right arm, and a black panther on his upper right chest. He also had a scar on his left wrist and his left big toe was missing. His family and local law enforcement were anxious for any information regarding his whereabouts as days turned into weeks with no contact. The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office led the investigation into Ryan's disappearance, reaching out to the public for assistance in late June 2019. As the search continued without success, the department renewed its plea for help from the community in August of that year, hoping for any lead that might help locate him. During the initial investigation, authorities stated that they did not suspect foul play was involved in his case, but the lack of answers was distressing for all who knew him. The search for Ryan stretched on, leaving his loved ones in a painful state of uncertainty for many months. Tragically, after more than a year of searching, the case came to a sad conclusion. In October 2020, human remains were discovered in the neighboring Tangipahoa Parish. Detectives from both the Livingston and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Offices were involved in the discovery. Shortly after, medical professionals confirmed through examination that the remains were those of Ryan Martin. The discovery brought a close to the 16-month search for the missing man. The overview of this case is a somber one that began with a man's sudden disappearance, leading to a prolonged period of searching and public appeals for information, and ultimately ended with the devastating discovery that he was deceased. Authorities have maintained that no foul play is suspected in his death.
