On May 17, 2021, at approximately 10:17 PM, Daqual Covington, a 27-year-old resident of Northeast Washington, DC, was fatally shot in the Unit block of O Street, SW. Covington, also known by the nickname "Scram," was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by DC Fire and EMS. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) immediately began an investigation and sought public assistance in gathering information about the homicide.
