In the summer of 2021, a promising life was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. Vanessa Brooks-Williams, a 34-year-old woman, was fatally shot inside her apartment in the Marshall Heights neighborhood of Southeast D.C. on the evening of Saturday, July 10th. The incident unfolded around 9:40 p.m. in the 5100 block of Fitch Street SE, where responding officers discovered her unresponsive. Emergency medical services personnel who arrived at the scene could find no signs of life.
