In the autumn of 2021, a tragedy unfolded in a Southeast Washington, D.C. apartment that cut short the life of 32-year-old Cynthia Barringer. On the afternoon of October 31st, the smell of smoke prompted a response from DC Fire and EMS to a residential building in the 2300 block of Green Street, SE. Inside one of the apartments, firefighters discovered a fire and, upon extinguishing it, found Ms. Barringer.
