In the early evening of October 28, 2015, tragedy struck in the 4200 block of Edson Place in Northeast Washington, D.C. Twenty-five-year-old Marcquetta Cunningham, a female, was shot in a violent encounter that would ultimately claim her life. Alongside her, a man was also struck by gunfire, though his injuries were not fatal. First responders rushed to the scene at approximately 6:16 p.m., finding Cunningham unconscious and not breathing.
