On August 13, 2008, at approximately 6:35 am, Shanika Lashawn Lee, aged 28, was found shot in the rear of the 3200 block of E Street, SE, Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the scene after reports of a shooting and found Lee with gunshot injuries. Despite efforts by the emergency response teams, she succumbed to her wounds at the scene. The case was subsequently classified as a homicide and remains unsolved.
