In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., the sound of gunfire shattered the peace in the 1200 block of 49th Street, Northeast. When Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the scene around 10:23 p.m. on June 6, 2023, they discovered a grim tableau.
