In the early morning hours of August 3, 2023, the life of 42-year-old Eboné Lavender, a female resident of Southwest Washington, DC, was tragically cut short. At approximately 2:26 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the sound of gunshots in the unit block of Forrester Street, SW. Upon their arrival, they discovered Ms.
Lavender behind a residence, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, but they found no signs of life. Eboné Lavender was pronounced dead at the location. Her death was one of five homicides to occur in the District of Columbia in the first three days of August that year. Public records indicated that Ms. Lavender resided on the same block where her body was found.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating her death as a homicide.
