On a late summer evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 31-year-old Delontae Kelly was tragically cut short. On Sunday, September 5, 2021, at approximately 7:05 p.m., the sound of gunshots echoed in the 600 block of Morton Street, Northwest. Responding to the sounds, members of the Fourth District of the Metropolitan Police Department discovered Mr.
Kelly suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, but despite their efforts, they found that Delontae Kelly showed no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting. The cause of his death was the gunshot wound he sustained. His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Delontae Kelly was a resident of Northwest, D.C.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the shooting as a homicide. In an effort to gather information and bring those responsible to justice, the department has reached out to the public for assistance. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Delontae Kelly.
