In the late afternoon of a Wednesday in October 2021, the sounds of gunfire shattered the autumn calm in a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood. When officers from the Sixth District arrived at the 200 block of 37th Place, Southeast, around 3:51 p.m. on October 20th, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The grim scene extended to the rear of the 3900 block of Burns Place, Southeast, where another man, 31-year-old Donnell Myers, was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
