On May 10, 2022, 40-year-old Cesar Barrera was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, Southeast, Washington, D.C. Responding officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) transported Barrera to a local hospital where he received treatment for life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Barrera succumbed to his injuries nearly two years later, on February 7, 2024.
