In the autumn of 2022, the lives of two teenage friends were tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire in Southeast Washington, D.C. Reginald Cooper Jr., a 19-year-old Black male, and his childhood friend, Davonte Berkley, also 19, were fatally shot on the evening of October 17th.
