On a January morning in 2014, the life of 28-year-old Antonio Darnell Logan, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident unfolded around 8:20 a.m. on January 11th in the parking lot of the Crazy Horse III gentleman's club. Logan was inside his Dodge Challenger when a gunshot rang out, the bullet striking him in the left shoulder. The car then crashed into a tree.
When police arrived, they found Logan deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting revealed a narrative involving gang affiliations and a prior dispute. Authorities identified Christopher Mallett, then 27 years old, as the primary suspect. According to the police report, Mallett, a member of the Rollin 60s Crips, and another individual had a previous altercation with Logan. On the morning of the shooting, Mallett and a group had been denied entry to the nightclub and were in the parking lot when they spotted Logan.
Mallett reportedly informed his companion that he intended to rob Logan. He then approached Logan's vehicle, and the fatal shot was fired. A cab driver who witnessed the event later identified Mallett from a police photo lineup as the man he saw running from the scene with a gun. A gold necklace that Logan was known to wear was also missing.
Nearly six weeks after the shooting, Christopher Mallett was arrested. He was subsequently charged with murder with a deadly weapon, burglary, robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle. Mallett later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for his role in Antonio Logan's death.
