Quinton Robbins, a 20-year-old Caucasian male, was enjoying the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas on the night of October 1, 2017. He was with his girlfriend, taking in the country music when the sound of gunfire suddenly pierced the festive atmosphere. In the ensuing chaos, as people scrambled for cover, Robbins looked at his girlfriend and said he thought he had been shot before collapsing.
A bullet had struck him in the chest, and he likely died within seconds.
The source of the attack was a lone gunman, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, who had positioned himself in a suite on the 32nd floor of the nearby Mandalay Bay hotel. From his vantage point, Paddock fired more than 1,000 rounds into the crowd of approximately 22,000 concertgoers. The shooting rampage lasted for about ten minutes, resulting in the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in modern U.S. history. In the aftermath, 60 people were killed, and hundreds more were injured.
As law enforcement officers closed in on his hotel room, Paddock took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Inside the suite, police discovered a significant arsenal of firearms. Investigators later determined that Paddock had meticulously planned the attack and had been purchasing firearms legally for some time. Despite an extensive investigation, a clear motive for Paddock's actions was never determined. Authorities believe Stephen Paddock acted alone, and no other suspects were arrested in connection with the massacre.
