On January 23, 2016, a tragic incident occurred in northeast Las Vegas, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Arthur Earl Cowell. Cowell, a resident of Las Vegas, was riding his bicycle east on Owens Avenue when he became the victim of a drive-by shooting. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened around 4:20 a.m. near the intersection of Owens Avenue and Mary Jane Drive, between Marion Drive and Nellis Boulevard.
