In the early morning hours of December 6, 2016, the body of a young Hispanic man, Carlos Lopez-Perez, was discovered in a vacant lot in a desert area of Las Vegas. The 25-year-old male had been the victim of a homicide. An investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department revealed that Lopez-Perez had been killed at a different location before his body was left in the south Las Vegas neighborhood, near the 11200 block of Gillespie Street.
