The incident unfolded following a heated argument involving a group of individuals, escalating to a moment of violence that would have irreversible consequences.
Responding to reports
of gunfire, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the scene to find Andre Smith suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Smith succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head, his death ruled a homicide by the Clark County Coroner's Office. The sudden and violent nature of his passing left his family and friends in a state of shock and profound grief.
In the days that followed, homicide detectives worked tirelessly to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Their investigation pointed them toward a primary suspect, 28-year-old Bryant Metcalf. On August 4, 2016, just over two months after the incident, Metcalf was located and arrested without incident in the 1000 block of Sierra Vista Drive. He was subsequently booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder in connection with Andre Smith's death. Investigators revealed that Metcalf had a prior criminal history, including arrests for battery, home invasion, and robbery.
