In the pre-dawn hours of August 14, 2016, a gathering of people in the parking lot of the Silver Nugget casino in North Las Vegas, Nevada, turned deadly. Amidst the crowd, an argument broke out, shattering the early morning quiet with the sound of gunfire. When the chaos subsided, two men lay dead, their lives abruptly ended. One of the victims was Delven Rasberry, a 41-year-old Black male from Las Vegas.
The North Las Vegas Police Department was summoned to the scene at approximately 4
a.m. to investigate reports of the shooting. There, they discovered Rasberry and another man, identified as 45-year-old De'Andre Orlandis Taylor, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of medical personnel, neither man could be saved and they were pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation suggested that a lone gunman had opened fire into the crowd before fleeing.
In the immediate aftermath, police worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting, noting that a large group had been present in the parking lot at the time. While some witnesses suggested the gathering involved a game of craps, this was not officially confirmed by law enforcement. The suspect, having fled the scene, remained at large, and authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest. Despite the ongoing investigation, no suspect has been publicly identified or taken into custody in connection with the deaths of Delven Rasberry and De'Andre Taylor.
