On May 2, 2017, a fatal shooting occurred in North Las Vegas, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Xavier Alexander Doss. The incident took place at the Loma Vista Apartments, located at 1200 W. Cheyenne Ave., near Martin Luther King Boulevard. Doss was found dead inside an apartment by responding officers who were called to the scene around 8:45 p.m..
The shooting also left two other individuals injured.
A 19-year-old man, who had been shot, walked into Valley Hospital Medical Center shortly after the police arrived. His relationship to Doss was unclear at the time, but he was reported to be in stable condition. On the following day, a 20-year-old man also sought medical attention at Centennial Hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, which were believed to be related to the same incident. Both of the injured men were reported to be in stable condition.
Despite the investigation, no suspects were identified or arrested in connection with the shooting at the time of the reports. The North Las Vegas Police Department appealed to the public for any information regarding the incident, but as of the available sources, there were no updates on any arrests or suspects in custody.
The preliminary investigation indicated that all three individuals – Doss and the two injured men – were shot as a result of the same incident. However, the police did not provide any details on the motive or the identity of the perpetrator involved in the shooting. The case remained unsolved based on the information available up to the current date.
It is important to note that there is no connection between this incident and the later arrest of Travis Doss, who was involved in a separate and unrelated case of child abuse in 2023. Travis Doss's case involved severe child abuse charges and had no relation to the shooting of Xavier Alexander Doss.
