Keri Lynn Poole Galvan, a 31-year-old Caucasian woman, was tragically killed on October 1, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada. A resident of Thousand Oaks, California, she was attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival with her husband, Justin Galvan, and a group of friends. The open-air concert turned into a scene of chaos when a gunman opened fire on the crowd from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
A devoted wife and mother of three young children, ages 10, 4, and 2 at
the time, Keri was known for her dedication to her family. Her sister, Lindsey Poole, described her as a "supermom" who seamlessly balanced her full-time job with raising her children. Friends and family remembered her as a kind and wonderful mother whose life revolved around her family. She had been a server at Mastro's Steakhouse in Thousand Oaks for nearly a decade.
During the concert, as country music star Jason Aldean was performing, the sound of gunfire suddenly pierced the night. Keri was struck by a bullet and died in her husband's arms amidst the panic and confusion. Her death was a senseless act of violence that cut short the life of a vibrant and loving woman who was just two weeks shy of her sixth wedding anniversary.
The perpetrator of the massacre was identified as 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. He fired indiscriminately into the crowd of concertgoers, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds more in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. After the attack, Paddock was found dead in his hotel room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. As the sole person responsible for the attack, there were no other suspects or arrests made in connection with Keri Lynn Poole Galvan's death. In the aftermath, her family filed a claim against Paddock's estate.
