On Valentine's Day in 2018, a tragic event unfolded in a North Las Vegas neighborhood. In the late afternoon, at approximately 4:30 p.m., residents on the 2200 block of Superior Position Street heard shouting followed by the sound of gunfire. Responding officers discovered 36-year-old Antonio Wilson lying in the street. He was immediately transported to University Medical Center for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Antonio Wilson succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced
dead. The Clark County coroner's office later officially ruled his death a homicide. The incident caused concern among the residents of the neighborhood, prompting a swift investigation by the North Las Vegas Police Department.
Homicide detectives quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, but rather a targeted incident. Their investigation led them to a suspect, and just two days later, on February 16, 2018, they arrested 56-year-old Michael Cooley Sr. Cooley was taken into custody on suspicion of murder with a deadly weapon and was subsequently booked into the Clark County Detention Center to await formal charges. Authorities encouraged anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.
